Vinegar Jones has been serving the finest fish & chips since 1976. We are a family business who have benn connected with the industry since the 1970s. Our goal back then remains the same today – to provide locals and visitors with mouthwatering, quality fish & chips! Customers can enjoy our superb 40 seater dining area with highchairs, baby changing facilities and FREE WI-FI. Grab a seat,  enjoy the taste of traditional fish & chips and soak up the views over the square.

Vinegar Jones is an institution in Bowness-on-Windermere, much loved by generations of locals and visitors alike. Commanding pride of place in Royal Square. We are a family business with our roots in the fish & chips business since the 1970s.

We work very hard to ensure all our food is fresh and locally sourced, and we purchase our fish fresh everyday, but what’s more important is that our customers have an enjoyable experience whether eating in or takeaway.

The business is located within 100m of the bay of lake Windermere.You can amble down to the lake and enjoy your fish & chips by the waters edge!

All food is cooked on site, sustainably sourced fish, British potatoes, peeled, cut and fried all day, everyday. We work hard to ensure our produce, cooking and service are of the highest standard.

Vinegar Jones only uses the freshest free range haddock, which is caught in line with the fish quota to ensure sustainability. This is delivered daily from suppliers of Morecambe and Fleetwood. The fish is skinned and filleted, coated with our secret recipe batter and fried to perfection. Visit us today and taste the excellence for yourself!
